Hotel Lorette - Astotel

The adjoining family room was excellent, and there are several room options. Staff were helpful, breakfast had a tasty selection, and the location was excellent. The lounge had some really good food and drinks available for free, and the room minibar was complimentary too. A nice extra was being able to use the lounges in their other Paris hotels. Those touches were appreciated. Recommended.

The location worked well, with nice bars and restaurants close by and a Metro station just down the road. We didn’t use the afternoon snack lounge, but it looked lovely. Check-in was quick and easy. Our room was ready, though they kindly offered to hold our bags and explained the free drinks, which were welcome on a very hot day. We also appreciated the free upgrade to room 502. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and there was plenty of space. The little TV in the lounge was disappointing. I couldn’t connect my iPad, there was no Chromecast, and the signal was too weak for regular channels. It looked as if there should have been a TV in the bedroom because there was a wall bracket, but there wasn’t one. We weren’t in the room much, though it would have been nice to relax in the lounge.

The hotel was clean, and the staff were great and helpful. They kept the rooms tidy, and there were no damp or other unpleasant smells. The location was very convenient, with lots of shops within about a 10-minute walk and the Metro nearby. We were a group of six and used Uber instead. I’d definitely use the hotel again if I visit Paris in the near future. I hadn’t realized until we were leaving that there were complimentary refreshments downstairs on the right as you enter, available 24 hours. The Astotel chain also offers free refreshments at its hotels around Paris, so you can stop at one as you pass. The room minibar was restocked free every day if you used it, which was a great perk for our family break. My one complaint was the lack of ordinary tea bags. I only managed one cup of tea during our three days, and when I asked, staff said they had run out. Luckily I’d brought my own tea bags from the UK for travel. They had lots of other flavored teas, which I find European hotels and companies often overstock. It doesn’t seem like a great business idea unless they’re very cheap, since I’ve seen people, including on cruise ships, looking for regular tea bags. Maybe it’s just me.

I stayed in two rooms here, and both were very clean, well designed, and well equipped. The standard double was fine but felt a little small, though that’s fairly normal in Paris. It was on the first floor, where I could sometimes feel the subway, but it wasn’t too bad. The superior double on the second floor was beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable. They cost almost the same, so check what’s available for your dates. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are lots of cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby, and the Metro is just steps away.
