Maison Proust Hotel

Marais has a real hidden treasure in Maison Proust. The ambience is great, and the service and staff are always wonderful. Extra credit to Yoni, Sylviane, Florian and Nelson.

We come to Paris often from the States to visit relatives, and Maison Proust’s service and attention to detail are a cut above any other five-star hotel I’ve stayed in, in Paris or elsewhere. The spa and Hammam can be reserved for private use during your stay, and make a lovely oasis after a long flight or a day of sightseeing. A drink at the bar is a must if you enjoy a 1920s-era vibe. For Americans, a note about space: my wife and I were there during a month-long trip, and the junior suite felt very tight with the luggage we brought. The decor and appointments were superb, though, and I can only imagine what the wallpaper cost. If room size matters to you, be prepared to adjust. For a Paris getaway away from the usual tourist path, you couldn’t ask for a better place.

The team were genuinely kind and attentive, and made us feel like family rather than just guests. That feeling of belonging is rare, and I’ll carry it with me. The rooms’ art and design, inspired by Maison’s novel, made it feel as if we’d stepped into a story. There’s thoughtful detail everywhere, from the cozy library and intimate bar to the warm dining area. Maison Proust felt like home for a few days, full of beauty, comfort, and warmth. France and the French spirit of love and feeling came through in the details of our stay. Merci, Maison Proust, for an unforgettable experience that will stay in my heart.

The location is excellent and the staff are friendly, but this didn’t feel like a five-star hotel. Rooms are small, and the toilet sits apart from the rest of the already tiny bathroom. They charge for every little thing, even early check-in when the room is ready, which doesn’t match five-star service to me. I switched hotels and found the same quality two blocks away for a third of the price.
