At the center stands an imposing equestrian statue of Louis XIV, with elegant palaces around the square and six streets meeting there. Place des Victoires lies a short way northeast of the Palais Royal, between the 1st and 2nd arrondissements. It's a royal square dedicated to Louis XIV's victories. Despite being close to the Louvre Museum, it feels quiet, and the king's statue seems to speak to visitors.
