New Hotel Saint Lazare

Our room had a loft-conversion feel to it. A little dated, but clean. My friend and I had a great time in Paris, and the hotel staff were so welcoming. Special thanks to the night security receptionist, who was especially kind to us. The tram is literally two minutes away and gets you anywhere within about 15 minutes. Thanks for having us!

The night ended with me finally getting a room after 1 AM, more than an hour after I arrived exhausted from a long trip. I'd booked and paid well in advance, but when I got there at 11:30 PM the key system wasn't working, and reception said my room was unavailable. They offered another room, but it was dirty with an unmade bed, clearly already used. I asked if they could arrange and pay for a room at a nearby hotel, but the receptionist, who did try hard to help, couldn't make that happen without support from a supervisor. Management seemed absent and disorganised when urgent help was needed. The location is reasonably central, but the lack of support made everything much worse. The room itself was inconvenient too. There were no outlets by the bedside tables or in the bathroom for a hairdryer. They expected me to dry my hair in the room, but there was no hairdryer there. Reception handed me their last one, and it didn't work, so after showering I couldn't dry my hair at all. Between the room problems, missing basics and management issues, this was an extremely frustrating stay. I wouldn't recommend it.

I booked in November 2025, and at first everything was fine. It's a small hotel in a nice location. But one night I got back around midnight and my key wouldn't work. I went down three times for new keys. On the third try, the front desk man came up but couldn't open the door either. They said it couldn't be fixed until 8 the next morning. All my things were inside, and I had to be somewhere at 8 AM. I couldn't get my belongings, shower or sleep in my own room after a long day. They offered me another room because they couldn't do anything about the lock that night. At first the man at reception was upset and spoke roughly. He acted as if it was my fault, saying I'd come back late and the technicians weren't answering. His manager never picked up. He called someone and complained about me because I'd shouted at him. He had been breathing hard, saying 'ufff' repeatedly and throwing things onto the desk. After the call I explained that I'd raised my voice because his attitude wasn't appropriate. Once we'd both spoken more calmly, he understood. He was kind and helpful after that, apologised, seemed worried, and urged me to take a room to rest, which I did. The problem still wasn't solved that night. I don't think that was his fault, though. It was the hotel management that never answered the worker's call.

There was a nice view from the window, and the staff were genuinely helpful and friendly. The room wasn't freshly renovated, but for the price and such a great location, that didn't bother me. Cleanliness matters most to me, and our room was clean. My one frustration was having nowhere near the bed to plug in a charger.
