Splendid Etoile Hotel

The reception team were kind, cheerful and professional, and we felt very well looked after. When we arrived in Paris, it was too early to check in, but they confirmed our booking and stored our luggage. After we’d gone shopping and had lunch, my husband realized he’d lost our luggage tag. One receptionist recognized me by name and brought our bags out right away. That’s professional service. A receptionist joked that she’d given us the best room, 507, and she was right. It was directly in front of the Arc de Triomphe, and even the bathroom had the same breathtaking view. From the balcony you could walk around to the side and see a different street view. There was champagne and macarons waiting when we arrived, and breakfast was served in the room the next morning. The little extra felt well worth it. I loved the warm service!

Waking up to the view across from the Arc de Triomphe was unforgettable. The Hotel Splendid Etoile is right there, and the staff were attentive and helpful. I loved having a full breakfast delivered to the room. The pastries were fresh, and the fruit, yogurt and juice selection was just right. Our recent stay in Paris was truly splendid! 🌟☺️

The location is what earns this place 4 stars with Google. We were literally steps from the Arc de Triomphe and the famous Champs élysées. The team was VERY nice and tried to help with the limited resources they had. Breakfast was mediocre at best, though the coffee was delicious. But the rooms are vile. The carpets were stained like a crime scene, and the furniture was very outdated and worn. They still use an actual key and keychain like a Holiday Inn from 1982. The pillows felt like sleeping on a Kleenex. Americans beware: after summer ends, Paris hotels turn off the air conditioning and turn on radiator heat. You have to open the windows and sleep with the busy sounds of Parisian city nights and sirens.

There’s no luggage service, and no accessible route for people with disabilities or for moving bags. The bed is extremely small and definitely not fit for two people. In the evening, one staff member, who looked Indian, was very unwelcoming and unfriendly, and made the stay uncomfortable. I honestly don’t understand why this hotel costs so much. If they charge that much, they should improve the service.
