Staycity Aparthotels, Paris Gare De l'Est

The room was clean, with a kitchenette, and the bathroom was fairly spacious compared with the very small bathrooms I’ve found in many Paris hotels. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location near Gare de l’Est is very convenient. But the bathroom had no power sockets in or nearby, so using a hair dryer while looking in the mirror was awkward. There wasn’t a single hook for towels either. My ground-floor room also picked up a lot of noise from reception, the small dining area, and people chatting outside on the street. Light sleepers may find that difficult, so I’d mention it when booking.

The beeping sound in my bathroom was really annoying, and that was the main downside for me. Otherwise, I liked staying here. Alexandre greeted me with a smile and was really nice, which made me feel welcome. The area is busy and central, but the hotel is on a quieter street in between. I spent the whole evening in my room and the wifi worked without any problems. For the price, I think the quality is amazing, one of the best deals you can get.

The location is amazing, right in the heart of the city with loads of little shops and restaurants nearby. The employees were all really nice and welcoming, and the room was clean, but the room itself was a solid 2 star at best. The walls were painted flat gray, and the bathroom was so tiny I could barely turn around. For context, I’m 5'1 120lbs. The curtains and sheets had tears, and the shower head had almost no pressure, spraying in seven directions. I had to keep fighting with the removable head to point it at me instead of the wall. During a shorter-than-normal shower, the water turned ice cold while I was rinsing my hair, so I had to finish with an ice bath shower. Water also got all over the floor and toilet, soaking my clothes since there was no counter space. The bathroom door had only a flat button, no handle, and was hard to open. The heat took forever to get working, and the TV language selection didn’t work, so I had to hope it would play something in my language. I thought about complaining and asking for another room, but I was only there 2 days and didn’t want to pack, unpack, then pack again. If you’ll spend any time in your room beyond sleeping, fellow travelers, be wary of booking here.

We booked this place because it’s close to Gare du nord, but my sister and I regretted it. We were put in a ground-floor room and didn’t feel safe at all. Men and young people were right outside our room every night, and we could hear them all night. When we asked the staff to move us, they said no. Those people could see into our room, so we had to keep the blinds closed for the entire stay. One evening we even found the receptionist asleep at the front desk. The room was a decent size, but bare minimum. There was no water, no mirror in the room, it wasn’t very clean when we arrived, and we couldn’t lock the door from the inside for extra security. I wouldn’t stay here again. Avoid it.
