Hotel Vaneau Saint Germain

We booked directly because we needed the location and elevator, since my mother-in-law and I both have knee injuries. We weren’t told before arrival that work was happening in the building and the elevator was out of service. With our situation, that was critical information, and we wouldn’t have picked this hotel if we’d known. Check-in was very unpleasant. The employee insisted we hadn’t paid and tried to charge the full amount again, even though €238 had already been taken from my card on 11 February. He kept saying it was only a warranty hold. He realized he was wrong only after I showed him my bank statement. He didn’t apologize, and banged the room keys on the counter in a passive-aggressive way. Very disappointing, especially given the high price we paid.

Good location, and the staff were friendly and flexible. It was quiet too. The shower stall is very small, and the elevator only reaches the 4th floor, so good luck with your luggage if you’re staying on the 5th floor or higher.

The rooms were quiet, the breakfast was excellent, and the staff were helpful and generous. I was very impressed by this cosy hotel in St Germain. Excellent value for money, and very clean.

I booked this place months in advance, then they cancelled my reservation with only a week to go because of renovations. With so little notice, all the other options were incredibly expensive. Agoda refunded me and gave me credit, but I still had to pay much more to find a similar hotel. I’m extremely disappointed with how they handled it and with the extra costs I had to cover.
