Victory Hotel Galou

The reception is open 24/7, and the staff were polite and helpful. They carried my suitcase upstairs, and a two-hour late checkout was fine. Housekeeping was limited, though: the woman brought fresh towels each day but didn’t take the trash out or replenish toilet paper, soap, and other basics.

The heating was there, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was good and really filling.

The rooms reeked of cigarettes during our three-night stay, and nothing we tried covered the smell. There was even an ashtray on the nightstand, and the bed covers had cigarette burns all over them. Cockroaches came out of the bathroom, which was disgusting and made it impossible to sleep without worrying they were all over the room. Other problems piled on: the bathroom door was uneven and took all our strength to open or close, and the outlets kept connecting and disconnecting, so we could barely charge our phones. We heard people above and next to us, as well as everything outside, because the place was so noisy. They don’t take guests’ ID, so if something went wrong or something was stolen, they’d have no way to know who was there. I can’t understand the good reviews. This hotel ruined our visit to Paris. Find somewhere better and don’t waste your money.

The room was cozy and really comfortable, and the workers greeted us warmly and politely. It was a perfect spot for a couples break. Thanks for a great stay!
