The room was okay and the bathroom was good, but the hotel seems unwilling to raise its standards. There was a musty smell, maybe just from a carpet that needs cleaning. The floor still had rubbish from the previous guests, and cobwebs were hanging around. Wi-Fi was painfully slow. There’s no air conditioning, so a fan would’ve helped. Opening the window meant hearing the bars on the street all night. We also had no hot water in the morning, apparently because it had been turned off overnight. It came back after staff arrived and we reported it. There was no kettle, but the nice morning staff brought us a jug of hot water so we could make coffee.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, and spoke English. She came with me to park the car because I found the streets hard to navigate, with bus lanes and pedestrian-only streets around both the hotel and the parking. The car park was several streets away, which wasn’t ideal, and guests should be told that before booking. Our room was on the first floor, and with no lift it was awkward carrying a pushchair up. The room was clean and spacious, and the central location is very good. It’s a basic budget hotel with no frills. We thought it was overpriced, though I guess that’s France.

The reception team were friendly, and they arranged parking for us at a nearby car park with free EV charging. I think we may have had the best room, on the second floor with a balcony. The location is good, and the quadruple glazing keeps the street noise out.
