The location is great, the staff are really, really nice, and our room was small, quiet, and clean. They also take pets. The problem is how little the owners seem to spend on basic hotel needs and repairs. Our mattress was cheap and hard, despite what the manager claimed. The pillows felt like they were stuffed with straw, and the bath towels were about as cheap as they come, more like dish towels. The shower was moldy, its faucet handle fell off when we used it, and the elevator lurched alarmingly when it stopped. This was the worst hotel stay we’ve had in recent memory, and it cost only a few € less than the much nicer Best Western around the corner. At € 40 I wouldn’t complain, but at the price we paid, it was poor value.

The location is right in the center, but hygiene was very poor. We didn't see any staff, and the soap had already been used by someone before us. There wasn't any fresh soap.

The room was very clean, breakfast was lovely, and the staff were amazingly welcoming and helpful. It's on a pleasant pedestrian street near parking, and good value for money. Just be aware that the building isn't very soundproof, so it may not suit light sleepers.

The shower was barely usable, and there was a noisy fan from the restaurant next door. We had to ask for coffee and sugar sachets every night, and even had to beg for a kettle and cups in the room. For €105 a night for a double, the hotel was very poor quality. I also couldn't see any fire escape routes on the third floor. I won't be coming back.

Hotel Bosquet is right in central Pau, tucked on a small street that was fairly quiet at night. I was in a room at the back, though, so it might be different elsewhere. The staff were really nice and friendly. I had a good stay, though breakfast could perhaps be better.
