The foie gras and duck confit were delicious, and the service was impeccable. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and even offered a high chair for our two year old. We had a very pleasant lunch.

The food was the main disappointment at Le Saint Louie in Périgueux, France. We'd been looking forward to lunch after reading the reviews, so I was surprised by how mediocre it felt, especially given all the 4 and 5-star ratings. The salad was limp in places, seemed old, and had no flavour. The lasagna looked like it had been cut from a larger piece and reheated, with heavy, bland bolognese, too much bechamel, and very little pasta. The foie Gras was dry, the canard overcooked, and the potatoes bland. Everything felt tasteless, overcooked, and uninspired. I've travelled extensively and reviewed many restaurants, but this was a difficult one. I felt my money could have been better spent. I don't recommend it, and expect the restaurant to reply harshly.

We spotted the awning on a Wednesday evening and decided to try the place, since many others were closed at 8pm. It turned out to be a treat: a great French Restaurant, with excellent ingredients at a reasonable price.

We left after 10 minutes because one waiter was so rude that we wouldn't stay. The tone was unacceptable and the service was bad. The table beside us had already left after waiting 15 minutes for someone to take their drinks order. There are much nicer places to eat, where the staff aren't so disagreeable.
