The hostess was friendly, knew her stuff, and was happy to help. Very nice.

There are some lovely things here, especially the vegetable garden and the castle grounds with trees that look centuries old. The appliances worked, and the place has the ingredients for a service that could improve. But renting the cottage section, I found the whole place lacking in cleanliness. The gardener woke us at 7 am, and the boiler room was a prominent feature that made our nights less enjoyable.

The homemade breakfast deserves a special mention. We had a really pleasant stay with family and friends in this splendid, almost timeless estate. The house and grounds are magnificent.

The host was welcoming but discreet, and the charming place was well maintained.
