Camping le Pressoir

We gave up on the rest of our stay and found a local hotel for the night. After a nine-hour drive that should have taken five, we called the campsite when we realized we'd arrive around 7:30 PM. We were told not to worry, but when we got there at 7:10, reception was shut. We asked staff where our pitch was, and they refused to help, saying reception was closed and they didn't understand us, even though we're English. We pleaded because our two young children were very upset, but the staff just walked away. The toilets were dirty too, with feces on the walls of three stalls. We tried phoning reception twice more and got no answer. We won't be coming back because of the staff's rudeness and the toilets' condition. I emailed over a week ago to ask for a refund and haven't had any acknowledgment or reply.

The facilities looked beautifully renovated, but they were so filthy we wouldn't stay again. The showers and toilets seemed not to have been cleaned for days. There was no soap or toilet paper, the bins were overflowing, and rubbish was spilling out. The location itself is lovely if you have a bike, with lots of restaurants among the vineyards. Getting in with a caravan was difficult because the access road is single track with few passing spots. The restaurant had a nice car and a wide menu. The pool was closed, as advertised. We'd stay in this area again, but not at this campsite because it was too unclean.

I was booked for a week, but left after one night, and even that was too long. The site was run down and untidy, with dog mess around and heaps of rubbish at the entrance and across the road. The pitches were few, stony and gravelly, and uneven. Most of the site seemed to be taken up by static chalet-style homes. The toilets were disgusting and clearly hadn't been cleaned recently. The showers were only a little better, with empty bottles and tissues in the drains, and the water stayed cold after I ran it for five minutes. The dishwashing area was filthy and unhygienic, and hot water wasn't available there either. Staff couldn't be found in person, only by phone. This has to be one of the worst places I've stayed.

We didn't stay because we couldn't find anyone responsible for check-in, and nobody could help us at 7:30 PM. It was noisy, with lots of kids and loud music. A bad experience.
