Ibis Styles Valenciennes Petite Foret

I was actually staying at the budget ibis opposite, but since that hotel had no check-in, food or drink, I used this bar instead. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I had a couple of beers with pate bread and fries, then a Bas Armagnac, all for 30 euros, so I can’t complain about the price. A pinball machine is in the bar, and three very noisy people spoiled the otherwise quiet atmosphere.

The location worked perfectly for a wedding in the nearby village of Trith-Saint-Léger. We stayed three nights and had a great time. The rooms were tidy, and the bathroom was spacious. Breakfast and the bar were both enjoyable, and the board games and flipper machine added a fun touch. I’d definitely recommend it.

It was a perfect short stop on our way back to Calais, and much better than we expected. The hotel is on a business complex with other hotels just off the motorway. We could walk to Burger King, Buffalo Grill and Crocodile restaurant. Before we arrived, communication from the staff was excellent, and they offered us connecting rooms, which was a big plus. Reception welcomed us warmly and personally. Our rooms were clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable, and the whole hotel is beautifully decorated. Breakfast was very good too, with plenty of choice, good quality food and a pleasant place to sit. Couldn’t fault the stay.

The reception service was great, and the bed was very good. The rooms are fine for a budget stop on the drive from Munich to the UK. There wasn’t much choice nearby for a decent dinner, though.
