Chateau de Roquelune

We chose Pezenas as a base for visiting other towns and booked just three days ahead. There were several rooms to choose from, and we went with the small Saint-Clair. It’s lovely and tastefully decorated, though a bit tight, with a huge bathroom containing both a bath and shower. Fresh water was put in the room daily, and there was a coffee machine. The bed and bathroom linens were excellent, as were the soaps. Breakfast, which was included, was amazing. I went for the cold meats, cheese, and breads, while my wife enjoyed the pastries and cereals. There’s plenty of parking in a very secure lot, though it’s a bit of a walk if you’re not fully mobile. They can bring you and your luggage over in a golf cart, which makes you feel like you’ve arrived at a five-star resort. The host, Stephanie, was friendly, helpful, and absolutely delightful. Getting there was tricky using Google Maps alone. We drove past it three times before we learned which landmarks to look for. Pezenas itself is a lovely town, an easy drive away, and reminded me of the French Cotswolds. We also had access to the grounds, pool, dining room, lounge, library, and patios. I wish we’d had more time to enjoy them all. It could be a great wedding venue, with its own little chapel, a large party room, and a huge outdoor area under awnings in case the weather turns. There are also the grounds and the Terrace with the Winnebago coffee. Top marks for the Chateau!
