The location is excellent, with a stunning view, great hikes, and beaches close by. Breakfast was good, and the place was clean. The Neptune restaurant has a good chef, though the dining room staff seemed to have little or no experience, perhaps because of France’s shortage of restaurant workers. The bedroom didn’t feel up to four-star standard: the furniture was dated and damaged, the mattress was old, and the safe was broken. We also reported an A/C problem that still hadn’t been fixed. I was surprised there was no environmentally friendly towel policy, since towels were changed every day, wasting a lot of water, energy, and soap.

The location and sea view were great, the room was clean, and breakfast was good. But the shared areas were poorly kept: the pool was often dirty by afternoon, with hair on the bottom, and leftover food and rubbish were left out with ants around. Some stair tiles were broken too, which felt concerning. Our “superior” room was disappointing for over $300 a night. There were stains everywhere, and the furniture was dated and damaged. Service also fell short. The staff didn’t seem welcoming or caring, and at checkout the receptionist didn’t ask about our stay. I tried raising my concerns more than once, but nobody could deal with them and said they needed to speak to a manager who apparently wasn’t there. When I hurt my finger, they had no proper first aid supplies and gave me a bandage and electrical tape, saying it was medical tape. Their limited English made it hard to communicate. The coffee machine was terrible, and wasps swarmed around the breakfast area while staff seemed unconcerned. I didn’t try the restaurant because of these issues.

The hotel was clean and quiet, with plenty of free parking. It’s a short walk into Piana, or up the famous Calanques de Piana road, where there are some lovely half-day hikes in the surrounding mountains. The staff made our engagement celebration really special. Letitia was patient and helpful over email, arranging a special dinner and sharing useful local tips, including where I might pop the question. On the evening, Anna took great care of us, checked that we had everything we needed, and even offered to take photos and asked if we’d like to move inside after the incredible sunset had gone down. A very special stay for us.

The staff were excellent and really service minded. Breakfast was very good, with a view of Piana, and the room and restaurant both have spectacular views. Our room was small, but big enough. Dinner at sunset would be perfect if you want to sit and enjoy the view. The pork dish was too chewy for me, but the chef changed it to fish, which was fantastic.

The hotel sits on a quiet hillside, so it’s peaceful as well as scenic, and the walk into town takes less than 10 minutes. We loved exploring the area around Piana, one of the nicest parts of a beautiful island. We went hiking, took a wonderful boat trip to the Piana Calanches, and drove along several beautiful stretches of coast. We were very happy with our week at Hotel Capo Rosso in Piana, Corsica, this May. Our room looked out over miles of coastline, and both the bed and bathroom were excellent. We also chose half pension at La Table de Neptune and were glad we did. The main chef and pastry chef are very talented, the service was excellent, and special thanks to Machu! The dishes were made with fresh, healthy ingredients and presented like works of art. Dining while watching the glorious sunsets over the sea was such a joy. We wish the hotel a wonderful future.
