Les Balcons de la Seugne

The garden was a real highlight, with a lovely outdoor dining area, a separate spot to relax, and a winding path down to a sunny patio with private access to the river for paddle boarding and kayaking. From the kitchen, French doors open onto a balcony overlooking the water, a lovely place in the morning to feed the ducks. The house has high ceilings, original features and beautiful furniture, mixing old and modern in a spacious, homely way. We stayed in the Granada Room, with its Morocco vibes, garden views and large ensuite. Our friends' rooms were just as lovely. Pons has good restaurants and bars in walking distance, and there are plenty of gorgeous towns and villages nearby. We spent a fantastic weekend here with friends in May 2025. Bordeaux and La Rochelle airports are both about an hour away. We'd highly recommend it and will be back.

Jacqui and Ian were brilliant hosts, and every detail was taken care of during our recent stay in Pons. We had the beautiful four-poster bedroom, with a bright, airy bathroom offering amazing views and a large choice of complimentary toiletries. The sitting room felt palatial, and the terrace was a peaceful place to eat. We had fun paddleboarding and kayaking on the river. In town, we visited a few excellent restaurants and enjoyed the great atmosphere at the beer festival with live music. The location also made it easy to visit Bordeaux, La Rochelle and other places. We'd definitely return and have no hesitation recommending it.

Les Balcons de la Seugne is a scenic, peaceful spot right by the River Seugne, yet town is only a five-minute walk away. Sue and Peter Wright made us feel at home, and they're warm, kind and knowledgeable hosts. Our bedroom was luxurious, with access to a wonderful sitting room, a log burner and original artworks. It put five-star hotels to shame. If you're there on a Sunday night, book one of Sue's sumptuous dinners, since restaurants in Pons will be closed. We loved everything about our stay.

Ian and Jacqui were fantastic hosts at this beautiful, character-filled residence. The private garden beside the river is tranquil, and the place is well equipped and decorated. It feels peaceful while still being right in the heart of town, with a wonderful boulangerie across the street. We had a wonderful weekend and highly recommend it.
