Les Escaliers de la Combe

We’re already booking next summer and still smile when we think back to that wonderful week with Coen and Ilse. Our girls, aged 3 and 4, had a blast. The hosts, along with Frederique, were so much fun with the kids and made everything feel relaxed. They also shared tips for the area that suited our taste for good food and drinks. We loved the delicious table d'hôte with the other guests. There’s loads to do nearby, including electric bike rides if you’re up for it. We’ll definitely come back.

A lovely mix of French living and happy kids. We spent two great weeks at Les Escaliers de La Combe with our two young children. It was easy to relax, get out and explore, spend time with the other parents, enjoy delicious food that the children liked too, and find plenty to do around the region. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended!

The kids were off on hikes with Coen early three mornings during Kids Active week, so we could have a peaceful breakfast. They also loved the climbing forest and the secret cave. The outdoor space is a children’s paradise, with Wendy and Ricard the donkeys to pet and care for, a pool, a play forest, and toys everywhere. We barely saw our kids during the day. Ilse and Coen put so much thought into making family holidays easy. They gave us daily, personal suggestions for outings and set up treasure hunts in nearby villages. When the children completed two, they got a reward, and we discovered places we might have missed otherwise. We stayed in Gite XL, which was clean and practical. Even the small details were covered, like child-sized coat hooks, a high chair, a children’s bath, and a changing mat. The open, welcoming atmosphere meant we quickly got to know the other guests. We also really enjoyed the table d'hôtes three or four nights a week. The children ate first, then happily went back outside, leaving the adults to enjoy a lovingly prepared, flavorful, varied dinner in peace. On the other nights, Ilse and Coen could suggest local places and book a table if we didn’t feel like cooking. From the moment we arrived at Les Escaliers de la Combe, we felt welcome. Ilse and Coen are warm, attentive hosts who think of guests of all ages. It’s a dream for parents who want to unwind while their kids have adventures. We left feeling thoroughly looked after, and would highly recommend it.

The scavenger hunts Ilse and Coen put together were a big hit. We stayed during the toddler and preschool weeks, and our two-year-old had an absolutely fantastic time. They’re both so helpful and ready to lend a hand with anything. We had a wonderful holiday here.
