Hilton Paris La Defense Hotel

The hotel's clean, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the location is great for food outlets, malls, and public transport. The TV could use an upgrade too. It's not a smart or recent model, so I couldn't watch Netflix. But the room was hot and stuffy, and I couldn't control the temperature. Staff told me it was a building-wide heating issue. There wasn't a window, so even sitting in the room was uncomfortable. I was given a fan, but reviews had mentioned this issue four months or more earlier. I hoped a hygiene and safety concern this important would have been dealt with by now. Please only book if you have written confirmation that the heating works, so you have more grounds for compensation. It's unacceptable to leave this issue unattended. This could easily have been a 5-star stay otherwise.

We had a lovely five nights at this Hilton with my husband. The restaurant, waiters, and breakfast were wonderful, and the staff were always polite, friendly, and ready to help. We highly recommend it, thank you!

Getting to the city was easy: I could walk through the malls to grab coffee and reach the station without going outside, then be in central Paris in 15-20 minutes. The connected metro station is just a short ride into town. La Défense itself is quiet in the evenings, and Westfield closes pretty early, though while it's open there are plenty of shops and restaurants. I liked being inside a shopping centre, and could see Westfield CNIT after hours from the elevator. One train or metro ride also makes the location convenient, but for me a return would depend on the price being considerably lower than a hotel closer to the center. I'm more of a night owl than an early bird. The Hilton Paris La Défense has a 1960s French feel, with a gold staircase leading to reception, impressive glass elevators, and a distinctive lobby. Check-in was easy, and Enzo was fast and gave great service. As a Gold Hilton Honors Member, I felt valued: I got an upgrade to a King Relaxation Room and free breakfast. The breakfast was good, with quality food and service, omelettes from the station, and service until 11 am on weekends. I found the allergen information confusing. My room was spacious compared with what I'm used to in other European capitals. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the TV was large, but it was fixed to the wall, so I couldn't reach the connections for my Fire TV Stick. A movable bracket would've been useful, so I could connect it and move it between the sofa and bed. There were plenty of outlets, including USB and USB-C, which was handy. I had no noise from outside or neighboring rooms until the final night, when a child in a nearby room misbehaved. The hotel dealt with it quickly after I told them. I also contacted the hotel about two other problems, and they were understanding. The bubble bath started immediately on its highest setting and wouldn't turn off. The noise was over 100 dB and could be heard halfway down the corridor, so both I and the guests next door had to move rooms. After checkout, the tags for my bag didn't match. I'm not sure how that happened, but I had to let a staff member search through it to get it back, which made me very uncomfortable when it wasn't my fault. An Executive Lounge would have been a nice addition for a hotel in the business district.

The room was unbearably hot, so I checked out within hours. Even the front desk had a fan running because the hotel was so warm. They didn't help me with the situation, and I still had to pay for the room, with nothing else to discuss. I drove across Paris to a Marriott property instead and had a good night's sleep in a cool room. I'll never stay here again.
