Manoir des Indes, The Originals Relais

We left dinner with nothing but Domino’s after being told the only food available was cheese and biscuits. Earlier, the lady had shown us a limited dinner menu with reservation and non-reservation choices, and we chose the latter, thinking we'd select from it at dinner. After a discussion, the manager/cook said we could always get Uber Eats. Local places closed at 9pm, so we had to go into town. The service was the worst I've ever experienced, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel. We arrived at 4:30pm, after the 4pm check-in began, but were told the pool wasn't available until 7pm, despite the booking saying unlimited use of facilities. Our twin room still had a double bed setup, which hadn't yet been changed into two singles. We went back to reception to wait for access to the spa, had a quick dip and shower, then got changed for dinner. There seemed to be only two staff from check-in until the next morning, and the young woman was handling reception, housekeeping, the bar, and the restaurant. Save your money and book somewhere more organised and professional.

The evening meal was very good, and the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna were just what we needed after a tiring day of driving. We got a warm welcome from the manager, who spoke good English, and were upgraded to a beautiful, large room with a four-poster bed.

The room was the one good part, though we even found a lizard in the bath and were told, “it’s the countryside.” For a four-star hotel, that didn’t feel acceptable. The rest of the stay was a letdown. We’d just got married and hoped for some privacy and time to relax, judging from the website photos, but the hotel seemed separate from the manoir and felt cramped. The bar and restaurant seating were tiny, with no privacy at all. One woman seemed to be handling everything, from check-ins to drinks, and things felt rushed and disorganized. We waited a long time for a food menu even though we’d been told we had only an hour to order. In the end, we were simply told dinner would be salmon followed by duck, with no choice. By then we’d had enough and wanted to leave. We were so disappointed, and wouldn’t recommend it.

The manoir looks lovely from outside, but the interior feels old and dirty. There’s real potential here, with the sauna, pool and outdoor space, but the experience was disappointing and there seemed to be very few staff. The place needs significant maintenance.
