After staying at their sister hotel in Megeve earlier this year, we booked a long weekend at Villa Marie and were glad we did. It’s beautifully set, with amazing staff, excellent food, and a very good breakfast selection and quality. The concierge team were a huge help, and the shuttle into town is a great perk. Highly recommend.

It’s about a 15-minute drive to town or to the beach clubs in either direction, and I’d suggest staying for a few nights so you can settle into the forest setting and really enjoy it. The rooms are spacious and peaceful, surrounded by serene forest. The staff are caring and clearly love their work. Shout out to Valet - Margot (not sure if I am spelling it right) and Benjamin, brilliant people. Every drive to and from port was super nice. A divine place to unwind.

My friend and I spent a week at Villa Marie last summer after hearing good things about it. The grounds are pretty, but the hotel wasn’t for us. Reception staff were nice, and check-in was fairly quick. Our room wasn’t ready, so we had lunch at the restaurant while we waited. Beyond reception, though, we didn’t find staff especially friendly or helpful. We had to ask for anything we needed, often more than once, and nobody, including the manager, checked in during our week. The hotel is 10-15 minutes from town and 10-20 minutes from most beaches and beach clubs. Some people like how quiet and removed it is, but we found it tiring to need a cab whenever we wanted to go out. The property was so silent that you could hear a pin drop at the pool, gym, or restaurant. I’ve never seen people speak so little on vacation. We didn’t try the spa, but used the gym each morning. There isn’t much equipment, though there was just enough for us. The food disappointed us overall. Lunch and dinner menus were tiny and didn’t change. After six nights, we were bored with everything by day two. If the food had been amazing, repeating meals might have been fine, but it was average at best. Our suite had a terrace overlooking the restaurant roof and a little of the sea. The room was fine, but not big enough to feel like a suite. The furniture and rugs were old and needed cleaning, and the room smelled a bit musty. We got one bottle of water on each side of the bed each night. Any more cost extra, which I didn’t like at a 5 star hotel. The pool may suit you if you want total silence. We never heard anyone, and had to stop bar staff whenever we wanted a cocktail or water. They’d bring it, but never ask if we wanted another. If you want quiet and little interaction, including from staff, this could be the place. If you’re after a livelier atmosphere, stay elsewhere.

The grounds are beautiful and the architecture is excellent, with great food and drinks too. It’s a stunning boutique hotel, and we had a wonderful time. The staff were welcoming and so friendly. We’ll be back.

The gardens and grounds at Villa Marie in Saint-Tropez are beautiful and well cared for, but the service, cleanliness, and professionalism were awful for the prices, especially on our one-night stay. We arrived after 4pm and waited more than 30 minutes to check in. The receptionist was on a call, and nobody else stepped in. The concierge was dismissive and patronising, offering empty reassurances without taking action. That sort of indifference would be surprising at a 3-star hotel, let alone one charging over €1,100 per night. The room looked dated, which was understandable, but dirty towels weren’t acceptable. When I told reception, there was no apology, just a brief acknowledgment that they could replace them. The pool was also neglected. The water looked cloudy and dirty, so swimming felt unappealing and frankly unhygienic. By morning, we couldn’t wait to leave. We had to fetch our own car and carry our own luggage. Then, despite there being two of us, we were offered just one bottle of water for the drive. It all felt rude, and the staff seemed more like summer workers than trained people at a 5* hotel. For service and attention to detail, Villa Marie felt no better than a 3* property. The hotel needs to train its staff and improve both service and cleanliness. It’s a missed opportunity in a beautiful setting.
