Hotel La Romarine

The staff were lovely and kind throughout our stay, and the location is fantastic. From outside, the hotel and grounds look beautiful, with a rustic style. It’s a shame I can only give it two stars, because it didn’t work very well as a hotel. Ants were all over the bathroom sink for our entire stay, even after daily cleaning. The baby cot was in awful shape, rotten and covered in yellow stains, so I asked for the extra charge to be refunded, which they accepted. There was no kettle or slippers to help deal with the creepy crawlies.

The hotel itself was fine, and the receptionists were good, but breakfast service was basically nonexistent. The buffet was very limited, so I asked for scrambled eggs and was told that wasn’t possible, there was only a boiled egg option that I had to make myself at a machine. When I tried to order a cappuccino, the waitress Magdalena just pointed at the coffee machine, and when she saw I was leaving, she hurriedly put the coffee on my table. She was very rude and seemed not to understand English. People like her need better training. A smile, a greeting, and friendly treatment are the least I expect when visiting a hotel on vacation.

I liked this place. It’s in a quiet spot well away from the main road, on the outskirts of st tropez, with lovely gardens, a pool area, several tennis courts, and plenty of parking. The large ground-floor rooms have private terraces with tables and chairs overlooking the gardens. Inside, they’re a bit old-fashioned but have lots of storage, air conditioning, and heating. There’s a fridge, but no tea or coffee setup, glasses, or mini bar. Breakfast is standard and a little expensive.

The rooms are large, the staff are friendly, and the pool bar food is great. It’s nicely placed between town and the beach, though you need to drive to get around. A good place to stay in St Tropez for a reasonable price, but it could use some updating.
