Rue du Château

The weather could have been better, but it didn’t matter with so much to do. We had a wonderful time with the family, celebrating a special occasion. The chateau was gorgeous inside and out, equipped with everything we needed, and the owners’ vision for it is spectacular.

The gym and play barn were big hits, with something fun for all ages. Our kids had a great time exploring and playing safely, and the chateau is very child friendly. The owners and local property manager were kind, welcoming, and always available to help. We spent an unforgettable summer week here. The renovation combines historic character with modern comfort, and the attention to detail is clear. Everything we needed was provided. The chateau sits in a beautiful region, with cozy villages nearby for exploring, eating out, and enjoying the local atmosphere. It’s a luxurious, relaxing place for families or groups.

We especially loved the little touches around Chateau du Rayet: fridges by the pool, easy-to-use sound systems, and a top-of-the-range dishwasher and washing machine. So much thought has gone into the design. It’s a magical place, and we’d happily return. There’s lots to do in this lovely part of France. We visited bastides, local markets, and other attractions. The chateau itself is spacious and so well appointed that five families with small children never felt crowded or overwhelmed by the general chaos. Everyone had a fantastic time. Our children are still little, but older kids would enjoy it even more. There’s a games room and board games, along with plenty of different rooms for a bit of space when you want it. We’d highly recommend staying here.

Our favorite spots were the pool and courtyard dining areas, and the expansive grounds are lovely to walk around. Look out for the peacocks at night! Town is just a five-minute drive away or an easy bike ride, and the charming daily farmer’s market has fresh baguettes and vegetables. There are plenty of restaurants if you don’t feel like cooking. We had 12 guests, including small children and two dogs, and there was ample room for everyone, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and several spaces to gather. Château du Rayet has been meticulously restored, with gorgeous finishes and thoughtful features like two laundry rooms, two dishwashers, and well-appointed furnishings. It offers modern comfort while preserving its historic French character. There’s lots to see and do nearby, from castles and the cave museum to kayaking, ATVs, and hot air balloons. Nothing was too far away. It was a dream stay we won’t forget, and we’ll be back.
