Hôtel Akena - Nantes Rezé Aéroport

Only a 5-10mins drive from the airport, this modern hotel has pleasant rooms, comfortable beds, and good bathroom facilities. The decor is nice, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Parking is free. Breakfast is okay at around €12, with bacon and eggs plus a continental buffet. The coffee was great, even though it came from a machine.

The rooms were clean, modern, and very comfortable. It was quiet despite being next to a road, and the staff were friendly.

The rooms were good, and I did meet one or two genuinely brilliant staff members, but the stay as a whole left me feeling unwelcome. The manager, Theo Guillet, was by far the rudest and least capable hotel manager I’ve encountered. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels across four continents and more than 20 countries. He didn’t speak a word of English, which made things worse, though I tried not to judge him too harshly because he seemed to have some mental health issues. I can only guess they put him in that role because otherwise he might spend more time at the hotel working reception. Avoid if you can, especially if you’re a foreigner.

It’s a clean, new hotel, and check-in and checkout were quick. The rooms are comfortable, and breakfast was decent with a good range of choices. A good hotel.
