Hôtel du Mouton

The food and service were exceptional, and the place sits on a lovely little square. A relaxing getaway among the vineyards, in one of the prettiest French villages.

There’s a lot I could say, so I’ll keep it short. The food was good, but the restaurant prices felt too high for what they offer. The staff were not professional and didn’t make us feel welcome. Before we arrived, a woman called and yelled at me because my card wasn’t working, even though you have to approve the payment first. They accepted our dog, then told us on arrival that we couldn’t leave him alone. That was unacceptable, since they’d already made our dining reservations and dogs weren’t allowed at the restaurants we’d chosen. They did let us leave him there, and he’s a good boy anyway. The baby cot also didn’t seem safe for children under 12 months, so be careful. There’s no parking and nowhere nearby to leave the car.

Breakfast had a great selection of high quality prepared and chosen ingredients, and the staff were warm and friendly, with excellent English. We spent three nights at this lovely boutique hotel on a pretty square just off the town centre. The restaurant was closed for two nights during our stay, Tuesday and Wednesday, which was a shame because our meal there on the last night was much better than the previous two dinners, and we wished we could have tried more. The coffee machine was fancy, but neither my husband nor I drink coffee, so we would have appreciated a kettle and tea making supplies. Still, it was excellent value for money, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

The Pinot Noir was the best wine we tasted all week. They told us it was a commune wine that you can’t buy, so we’ll have to come back to enjoy it again. Our room was good quality, with a shower, and breakfast was superb. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is on a square in the quieter old part of town.
