The welcome was lovely, and the hosts couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. Unfortunately, the rooms are very run down. The mattresses and pillows felt about 30 years old, and the towels smelled of mildew or mould. It’s okay for one night, but definitely not the most comfortable place to stay.

We slept so well here, probably the best night of our holiday. It’s quiet and very comfortable, with delicious dinner and local wines. The family-run hotel has loads of charm and a warm, welcoming feel. Handy for cycling or walking along the Loire too. Loved it!

The room was simple but comfortable, and the shower and bathroom have been recently redone. Dinner was delicious, proper French Sunday best, and breakfast included homemade Mirabella jam. We stayed as part of an Inntravel walking tour, and the proprietor’s warmth and enthusiasm made the experience outstanding.

Don’t come expecting luxury, but there’s comfort here, and the rooms have an old, crooked, worn charm. The restaurant will cater to your every need, and the staff are extremely service-oriented. It’s lovely for a monopoly hotel in the middle of almost nowhere, even if it’s not posh and there’s no other option in town. Be sure to walk around the Ussé castle at night.

We had a lovely quiet lunch here, only 100m from the chateau entrance. It was much more pleasant than the crowded, noisy cafe by the carpark, right across from the entrance.
