Ace Hôtel Riom

We were really pleased with our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the reception staff were very helpful. For what it costs, this is a great hotel.

We were heading south and this worked out perfectly for a stop. The room had comfortable beds and the air conditioning worked very well. We also ate at the restaurant next door, which was very good. Great value for the money.

We've stayed at several Ace hotels during holidays in France over the last five years, and they've all been about the same quality. Compared with other budget chains we've tried in France, Ace has been the most consistent and the best. This one had a good sized en-suite room with air conditioning, free WiFi and UK TV channels. There's also a buffet breakfast for a small extra charge. A great budget option.

The walk into central Riom took about 30 minutes, and the railway station was around 20 minutes away on foot. The hotel is out on the edge of town, in an area with several other budget places. Parking was large, clearly marked and well lit, and the receptionists were friendly. My room was spacious, though I was travelling alone. The bathroom was basic and the small towels were worn. You'll want to bring or buy shower gel, as they only leave tiny bottles. Breakfast costs extra and is a simple continental spread, with croissants, little rolls, ham, cheese, jam, tea and coffee. The dining room is small but clean and does the job.
