Both dinners at the restaurant were really tasty. My room, either number 11 or 12, was heavenly, with a lovely window overlooking a storybook street. Add birdsong and a cup of coffee, or a glass of wine, and it was just perfect. I’d definitely come back.

The town is stunning, and it was amazing to see it in the early morning and evening once it quieted down. We had a lovely stay at St Nicolas with our two toddlers. The employees were genuinely helpful and very friendly. Our four-bed room in Maison Sophie next door was spacious and comfortable.

We really enjoyed being right in the old town, and the room was clean. Parking was easy to find. There’s a bit of a walk to the hotel, so I was glad we’d brought just a small suitcase. Check-in was simple and friendly, and the woman spoke English. We had two rooms in the separate building, one on the ground floor and one upstairs on the second floor. There’s no elevator, but that didn’t bother us. The upstairs room had a private terrace. Another floor could look down onto it, but we still enjoyed sitting out there. I wouldn’t book the street-facing ground-floor room. With the window or curtains open, there’s no privacy. It was a bit warm and we wanted the window open, but couldn’t do that. The town is very quiet, though the clock chimes every 15 minutes and on the hour. That didn’t bother us. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and enjoyed both, even though nobody spoke English. The shower really does have just one combined body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and it’s a cheap product. Still, I’d book this hotel again because I enjoyed the town so much.

The location is excellent, just far enough from the village's main drag to stay quiet. The room is basic, clean, and functional, with a great modern en suite. It can get hot, and they provide a noisy fan. Breakfast was good but expensive. The honesty bar is good value for soft drinks and bottled water, cheaper than most shops in Riquewihr.

Riquewihr worked really well as a base in Alsace. It’s a medieval town with no cars in the center apart from a few exceptions. The main street gets busy, while the side streets stay peaceful. Our renovated third-floor room felt completely modern and clean, with excellent water pressure. The windows don’t have screens, so keep an eye on younger kids. Ours loved looking out at the little street below. We had a charming setup for our family, with a king bed for the adults and two twin beds in a separate room for the kids. At dinner in the restaurant Manala, our family favorites were the terrine, beef, and quiche Lorraine. The wines were delicious, the desserts were wonderful, and the kugelhopf ice cream had a very generous amount of spirits. The staff made the stay a happy one. I’ve attached a photo of the moon outside one of our windows, taken a day too late for the Northern lights, and one of a nice piece of art on the wall. Everything about this place felt perfect.
