La Grande Marée

The garden was spacious enough to give us privacy, and the house itself was clean, roomy, well-equipped, and full of typical character. Elisabeth and Dominique gave us a professional yet warm welcome. Elisabeth was very attentive at breakfast, which was delicious and plentiful, and shared lots of information about her island. From the house, you can walk to places like the Donkey, though the trip there is a bit wobbly :-)). It's also a great base for bike rides. La Grande Marée is simple, charming, and friendly, and feels even more like home than home ;-)

The owners were attentive and easy to reach throughout our stay. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent, and we really appreciated the spacious garden and jacuzzi. It's a charming house and very well maintained.

Breakfast was ready even at 6:30 in the morning, and the owner was welcoming and efficient. The cottage is thoughtfully laid out, nicely decorated, and easy to get to. Great value for money on the Île de Ré.

For €75 a night, I expected more from the bed and breakfast. The bed frame was homemade from planks, and the mattress was so thin I could feel the frame underneath. Breakfast was minimal, with bread and more bread, no cakes, crepes, or pastries. Yogurt was available only if requested. There was no coffee or tea in the room or common area for the evening. The welcome was friendly, though, and the place was very quiet.
