La Maison D'hôtes du Parc

The owner was kind, helpful, and polite, and the breakfast was particularly good. I stayed here in winter and was very comfortable in this charming classic French residence. The house is beautifully decorated. I’d definitely stay again next time I’m in the region.

I’d give this a negative score if I could. If you might need to cancel, think twice before booking through their website. They never returned my deposit, and it felt like my money had been taken. The site has no option to manage or cancel a booking, so they tell you to contact the property directly. I emailed and got no response. After sending more emails for a week or longer, I finally heard that my reservation had been cancelled and the deposit refund had been made. That reply came after I said in one of the emails that I’d leave a Google review. I kept checking my credit card transactions. After 20 days, with no refund showing, I contacted the host again. They replied that the refund had been made and that their concern was that the file had been closed. So I was left feeling ripped off, with nothing I could do. Think twice, or more than twice, before booking this hotel. They weren’t kind to strangers, especially people who weren’t doing business with them.

We checked in, but the room was so filthy that we didn’t even unpack. The owner was unbelievably obnoxious and rude, so we left right away. It was the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever seen, and I’ve never come across a dirtier establishment. Do NOT stay here if you can avoid it, especially if you’re visiting Le Corbusier’s Ronchamp.

The two hosts were extremely helpful and friendly, and the little house is full of charming details. It’s a real highlight in this small, out-of-date town. You can even see the chapel of Le Corbusier from the huge garden.
