Our five-night booking turned into a three-week stay, which says a lot about how much we enjoyed Camping De La Baie, Pendé. The pitch was spacious, hedged, and had its own water supply. It was peaceful too, and our cat settled in happily. Jannick and Laurent, the owners, and their son made us feel very welcome and were friendly and helpful. The facilities were spotless. We understood why there were no toilet seats for hygiene reasons, and it didn't bother us. Reception had a handy little shop for essentials, with snacks sometimes available from the bar area. There are designated cycling paths nearby, and the site worked well for rides to the coast and the lovely towns. We brought our bikes, though rentals are available. We'd happily recommend the campsite and are thinking of coming back next year.

The local baker's van turning up each morning was a real treat, and the campsite sits right on a Bay de Somme cycling route. The routes use quiet lanes or dedicated cycle paths alongside busier roads. We were lucky to get the last pitch over a French public holiday weekend. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, and the grassy pitches were pleasant, with touring campers among the static mobile homes. Facilities were very clean, though the shower water pressure could be better. We had a lovely stay at this small rural site and were sorry to leave.

Allow about an hour to walk from this campsite to the centre of Saint Valery sur Somme. There are no taxis in town, so it's worth thinking through how you'll get around. The tent and camper van pitches are a good size. For an electric hookup, you'll need a European adapter. Reception sells one for €20, though you can find them for around £7 on Amazon or at a camping shop. Bring your own toilet roll. The toilets were clean and not busy, and the showers were hot, clean, and also not too busy.
