Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport

The room was nice, and the morning staff were very kind, but I wouldn't recommend this place. The breakfast was one of the worst we've had: stale bread for toast, no waffles on weekends, few choices, no omelette or fried eggs, potatoes with so much garlic they gave us stomachaches, overripe bananas, and old fruit salad. You wouldn't expect such a poor spread from a 4 stars brand Hilton. There were no slippers and only one pillow per person. The hotel isn't that close to the airport. Tram n 7 takes 15 minutes; a taxi is like going into town, 20-25 euros. There's also a shuttle bus for most airport hotels in the area if you can wait, but it stops early at night. The night staff were okay, though he took a preauthorisation without telling me.

Laundry turned into a frustrating ordeal. I went up to reception twice because the laundry room was locked. Once it was opened, the washing machine wasn't working properly. A kind gentleman helped, which I appreciated, but after transferring my clothes to the dryer at 3:00 AM, it failed too. Nearly two hours later the clothes were still wet, and I had to leave in damp things. The check-in after my long flight felt cold and impersonal. I wasn't acknowledged as a Gold member, nobody used my last name, and the welcome felt as if my arrival didn't matter. At checkout, the man at reception seemed more interested in his phone than in the guest in front of him. There was no proper goodbye or attention. The area around Hilton Garden Inn Paris Orly Airport is very dark and not especially pleasant. I chose it as a simple rest stop after a long flight, and regret the decision. The property needs maintenance, and staff training and hospitality could improve. The stay fell well short of expectations.

Arthur at the front desk was a standout. He helped me with several things during the week, and the staff were accommodating throughout. The included buffet breakfast had lots of good choices, no one rushed guests, and the bar stayed open late. The rooms were quiet, clean, well equipped, and very large compared with central Paris or Europe generally. The location worked well for Orly and nearby companies. This was by far the best HGI I've stayed in, and I've been in quite a few as a Hilton Diamond Member. I'll definitely be back.

At checkout, we had nowhere to leave our bags from 11 am until 3 pm, since we'd already left our other place. We have a family and had more than 1-2 bags, but the front desk person was rude and said they couldn't store that many. I've never had this problem before; a legit hotel would have no issue with it. They also said check-in was at 3 pm and didn't try to accommodate anything. I understood the 3 pm check-in and was fine with it, but a little kindness would've gone a long way. I chose Hilton because of the name and because I'm an elite member. For that kind of service, I could've stayed at any no name hotel. Truly unbelievable.
