Hotel Savel

Our room was immaculate and a pleasure to stay in, and the hosts were friendly from the moment we arrived. We fell for Hotel Savel right away. We spent two nights here while visiting the region to kayak on the Ardèche. The garden was lovely to spend time in, and we enjoyed walking down to the river to swim and lie on the sand. Dinner was stunning, served in a beautiful setting with local wine. Only wish we could have stayed longer. I’d definitely recommend this gem, and we’ll be back! James and Helen

The people here made the stay feel just as special as the setting. Everyone at the hotel was warm, welcoming and very professional, and the food and wine were wonderful too. Dinner by candlelight, with such lovely food, felt right at home in this 19th-century fairytale. The place itself is beautiful: a medieval town in Ardèche, and a little path through bamboo that leads to the peaceful banks of the river Ardèche. It really feels like stepping into another time. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a calm, timeless escape in France. Thank you so much, and goodbye.

The garden was a lovely spot, and we wholeheartedly recommend having dinner there. There was plenty of parking on site, which made us feel our car was safe. I have celiac disease, and the owner kindly made gluten-free pancakes for me at breakfast. She was also very friendly and helpful with ideas for exploring nearby. We stayed at hotel Savel in August 2022 and couldn’t have been happier. It was honestly our favorite hotel of the trip.

We’ll be back, though you’ll want to book well ahead. The menu is small but delicious, the wine selection is good, and the service was just right. Lovely garden and setting, with courteous, friendly staff. Easily the best restaurant around.
