Coté Bordeaux

This would have been five stars if not for a few things. The B&B is lovely, in a peaceful setting, and the rooms are beautifully designed and modern. Our room had a comfy bed, and the garden and pool are stunning. Breakfast was delicious, with freshly baked bread, croissants, fruit and homemade yoghurt. There was parking out front too. The check-in window was 5-7pm, which was fine by itself. But we were travelling and sharing a car with friends who were staying elsewhere, so they had to come with us from the airport or we'd have missed check-in. They weren't allowed inside when we arrived, even though it was boiling hot, in the late 30s. My friend badly needed the toilet, and they were left outside, uncomfortable in the heat. It would've been nice if they could at least sit inside somewhere cool. At breakfast on our last day, the owner's partner spent the whole time talking over us to some Belgian guests. We don't speak French, so it felt rude and insensitive. We couldn't join in, and my husband and I could barely talk to each other because they were speaking loudly over our heads. It was really awkward, and by the end I had a headache. It spoiled the experience. After we'd left, the owner messaged to accuse us of getting self-tanning product on the sheets. Neither of us had used any, and we'd showered before bed each night, so we're sure it wasn't us. The email's tone made it seem like nothing I said would convince him. It left a sour taste to be blamed for something we hadn't done. He said the housekeeper wouldn't have put the bedding on that way, but I'm pretty sure there was a mistake this time. I noticed a small orange mark on one sheet that looked like a bleach stain, but didn't mention it because the sheets otherwise seemed clean. I didn't examine the rest of the sheet for other stains, so I can't be sure if that was what he meant. I found the accusation quite upsetting.
