The garden table was pleasant, but we were the only diners all evening, which surprised us on a Saturday. We had booked for four and brought guests who are food critics, so I felt embarrassed by how the meal went. There was very little choice in both the starters and mains, and neither felt inventive. The food tasted poor. Given the restaurant's past reviews, I wondered if the chef might have had the day off. We won't return, and I can't recommend the place.

The food was really good, and the portions weren't small. Service took a little while, but with food this fancy, the wait felt worth it. Staff were nice enough, and the prices seemed fair for the quality and quantity. Inside, though, the atmosphere felt a little dead when I went. It's a good restaurant, but I'd go with fun people if you want a livelier time. It's also in a small village a bit in the middle of nowhere, so you'll definitely need a car if you're planning activities afterward.

Breakfast was great, and the hotel, owners, and staff were all very nice. The 'Ilse flottante' is worth trying, with its aniseed injection. The restaurant is popular with locals and gets busy at weekends, serving food with some unusual flavors and combinations. We stayed overnight on our way north to catch the ferry. It's a delightful little hotel, and the wife works incredibly hard. We had an excellent trip and would gladly come back.

I really want to love this place. I support its principles, and the location is so lovely that I've visited three times: for dinner with friends, lunch, and a group meal. The host is friendly, and the interior is clean and nicely decorated. The grounds, with grass and trees, are beautiful too. I hope this comes across as honest, constructive feedback. The menu feels too adventurous for me, though clearly others enjoy it. Surely there could be one or two simpler options for people who are less adventurous. At the group meal, the amuse-bouche and starter were much alike, both pale, creamy, cheesy, and with lettuce. My fish was bland, in soggy batter with rice and a couple of smears of vegetable puree. My companion's duck gratin was quite greasy and creamy. Dessert was an overly sweet strawberry mousse with cream that tasted like it came from an aerosol. The waitress seemed hot and flustered, rushing around, which didn't help the atmosphere. The food was disappointing, and so was that last visit in particular.

The hosts were so friendly and talked us through the ingredients and preparation of every course in detail. We were five people dining on New Year's Day, and every dish was exceptional. My tuna was cooked perfectly and came with a gingery Japanese sauce; the veal for four was tender and just right. The pumpkin and chestnut starter soup was creamy and delicious. The cheese course was camembert that seemed to have been moussed, making it light, fluffy, and creamy. And the all-chocolate dessert was just to die for. An absolute winner!
