There was nobody at reception, and room service didn't exist during our four-day stay. Nobody came in to make the bed, clean the room or bathroom, change the towels, or replace the two small shampoo bottles from our arrival. Toilet paper was left in a pile on a radiator at reception for guests to take. Unbelievable, but true. The room door wouldn't close when we arrived. They said they'd fix it the next day, but it stayed open day and night for all four days. The layout was bizarre: from the landing you entered a tiny bathroom, then had to go through it to reach the room. You had to check nobody was in there before entering or leaving. The rotten, damp door between the bathroom and sleeping area wouldn't shut either, so sounds and smells passed between them. You couldn't close either door while using the bathroom. It was like inviting your partner in with you. There was no ventilation, the walls were damp, and the shower had mold and mildew. The hotel seems to be an old house in a deplorable state, dirty and damp throughout. When the owners did show up, they came across as sloppy and indifferent to guests. A couple of dogs ran loose inside, adding an unpleasant smell to the general filth. Sleep was difficult too. The train track is right behind the hotel, so you hear every train go by. Piano music played through a loudspeaker in the lobby until the early hours, and the curtain was just a rag that let the dawn light straight in. The worst experience we've ever had.
