We only booked two nights while visiting the D-Day sites, but I wish we’d made more time for Caen itself. The city has a terrific history. ACE hotel Caen worked really well for us: it’s modern, has a big car park, and makes it easy to get onto the roads out of town. Our room for three was comfortable, quiet at night, and spotless in the bathroom. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had plenty to choose from. The staff were lovely and helpful, and spoke English. A great option if you’re driving and want to be near the Memorial Museum.

The rooms were quiet, and there’s plenty of free parking. The price is affordable, too. But they skimp on towels and hand soap, and the toilets weren’t very clean or working properly. We had the same problem in two different rooms: after flushing, water kept running and only stopped after pressing the button several times.

I’ve stayed here several times, and the staff have always been excellent. Breakfast is good, and the restaurant next door is convenient and good too.

We were able to check in around noon, which was great. A pleasant hotel to stay at.

8/10
The staff were friendly, and breakfast was self-service with fresh baguette and croissants. We also got 10% off at the restaurant next door. It’s a quiet spot that worked well for stopping near the ferry before heading to Le Mont Saint Michel. We stayed two nights. I liked the more spacious room on the second floor better than the one on the fourth, which was far from reception and had a dusty corridor. We ran out of shampoo and shower gel on both nights, though we did get replacements the second night.
