Hôtel Le Cap Vert

Avoid this place at all costs. I booked a room for the Fête de la Musique because every hotel in Saint-Denis was full. The couple staying in room 4 argued through the night, shouting in the hallway, pounding on the walls, and pacing back and forth.

The parking at the front was the one advantage for me. I didn't like the hotel otherwise. Staff friendliness seems to depend on who's working, and sometimes the showers are on the landing instead of inside the room.

We couldn't reach anyone at reception. The listed numbers went unanswered for 45 minutes. After we exchanged text messages, someone finally called back to say there was a technical problem with our room. We were moved to a studio a few streets from the hotel, in the pouring rain. Quite an experience.

Getting into the hotel was a struggle. We arrived at 5:30 PM, couldn't enter reception, and rang the bell and called the listed numbers for half an hour before a resident let us in. The reception desk was empty, even though the website said it closed at 6 PM and the sign on site said 9 PM. Another half hour passed before we found our keys. We were close to leaving and worried about finding somewhere to sleep. Two hours later, the host called to say she'd left because she hadn't known whether or when we'd arrive. When I said she could have called me or answered my calls, she replied, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride..." The room was clean, but smelled strongly of cigarettes, and other residents were noisy until 10 PM. There's a lot that needs fixing. A low price doesn't mean the basics shouldn't be provided.
