Hotel Moderne

Really enjoyed the experience. I liked both the staff and the location.

My phone was stolen at a concert and ended up at this hotel. From other reviews, it seems I may not be the only one. This place is shady and seems to serve thugs and thieves. Shame on you. I hope it gets shut down soon. Dirty thieves.

We only booked here for a day at first, planning to look for somewhere else, because I didn't want to stay when our taxi driver brought us here. After looking at many rooms, though, we came back and booked here for the whole trip. Sufiyan, the owner, was helpful, spoke English, understood us, and gave us a very good deal. The room was neat and clean, his mother was a lovely and helpful lady, and the staff were very good. The metro is very close, buses and taxis are just outside the main door, and the market is nearby. I'm loving Hotel Moderne in St Denis and will miss everyone when I'm back home. Whenever I'm in Paris, I'll stay here again.

The only reason I'm giving three stars is that the other staff members were really nice, and the hotel is close to the metro and restaurants. But the room smelled so bad that the odor got into my clothes, and I'm not usually picky about that. The guy at the lobby tried to charge me again even after I showed him I'd paid. I was visiting friends and family and tried to invite my cousin over, but that same guy didn't want my guest to come, as if it were his business. I talked him around in the end. Also, once you pay, there are no refunds if you cancel.
