The rooms have lovely beds and linen, and the building and location are beautiful. Alain even tried to rescue breakfast by making scrambled eggs, and Hermann, the night guardian, is a genuinely gentle, kind person. Those were bright spots in a stay that left me feeling very uncomfortable. The breakfast was poor in quality, though there was plenty: cheese and fruit that seemed days old, some fruit already rotten, charcuterie, low-quality viennoiserie, bread, dry cake, and jam. At 18 euros it wasn’t worth it. Dina moragabine charges the same for a much better breakfast. There’s a strange atmosphere at the hotel, and guests, including me, were pressed to pay everything upfront, which felt uncomfortable. Several of us compared experiences, though I don’t know if they’ll write reviews. Many guests were treated shockingly rudely and unprofessionally during the cyclone and even before it, not just me. I won’t go into details, especially since responses to negative but honest reviews are themselves very rude. I hope that won’t happen here. It took effort to find the one-star reviews, though there are quite a few, so I urge anyone considering a stay to read them carefully. What stays with me most is the rudeness. I grew up in the hospitality industry, and as an artist I believe kindness and beauty matter. Beauty without kindness leaves you feeling empty.
