Hôtel De Champagne

The room was nearly impossible to sleep in during the summer heat. There's no AC, and I wouldn't expect a two-star hotel to have it, but the temperature was a real problem. In mid-summer, I'd rate room comfort 2 out of 10, though normally it would be 7. The hotel is a cheap, decent place to stop while travelling, as long as you know the rooms get very warm without AC. We ended up there after breaking down, with roadside assistance booking it for us, which can feel a little worrying when you haven't chosen the place. From outside, the hotel looks like an old, run-down building that must once have been classy and now needs renovation. The aesthetics get 2 out of 10. At reception we were met by someone who seemed very angry, but when we asked about the room, he spoke perfect English and was genuinely helpful. Phew. The Chef he was talking with at reception helped us with our huge amount of luggage too. Staff get 10 out of 10. Breakfast was a small offering, but good, so 5 out of 10.
