We felt at home here, thanks to the hosts' genuine effort to make us comfortable. That helped me adjust to the jet lag faster than I ever have, even after our 27-hour trip from California, arriving in the late afternoon. The house sits among the chateau Phelan segur wineyards, with peaceful views, comfortable rooms, thoughtful decor, and exceptional bedding. The outdoor lounge and lovely swimming pool are a real treat. Breakfast is included, and it's sumptuous, just the thing before a day of wine tastings. For the evening, there's a minimalist wine list at good prices, plus local seasonal food, charcuterie and cheese boards, and crusty bread from nearby to satisfy a craving. For a bigger dinner, book ahead for a private three-course meal with ingredients from the local butcher of St Estephe and some distinctive wine bottles. We had the Phelan segur 2016, which was exceptional, especially while looking out at the vineyard it came from. The bottle price difference compared with having the same wine in the USA probably pays for one night's stay. Highly recommended!

Dinner turned into a really fun, unforgettable evening. We were a bit unsure at first when our hosts, who were charming and very attentive, invited us to share a meal with the other guests. But the food was delicious, and we're so glad we joined in. Thank you, Valery and Bernard, for making it happen. The house itself is lovely, and our room was very large, clean, and tastefully decorated. The pool is a nice addition, and guests can borrow bikes to explore the vineyards. Breakfast was delicious too. If we're back in the area, we'll definitely stay here again.
