Hôtel Mercure Paris Ouest Saint Germain

We stayed Jan 26-28, 2026. At breakfast each morning, the woman working in the restaurant was always smiling and cheerful, and she handled everything really efficiently. She managed the whole breakfast rush by herself, which impressed me. I’ve never seen anyone run breakfast alone like that at a hotel. Thumbs up to her.

The bathroom door mechanism failed and the handle broke while I was inside, leaving me trapped. It was frightening and a serious safety risk. The hotel then blamed me instead of taking responsibility, and their response felt dismissive and unacceptable. I won’t return. I strongly urge them to take proper steps so no other guest goes through the same thing.

The rooms need attention: paint is peeling, and the shower water pressure varies. The staff were welcoming, though, and it’s a pleasant 10-minute walk from the centre of Saint Germain-en-Laye, with the forest right across the way.

The hotel is in a great, quiet location, and the lobby and restaurant have been renovated nicely. They feel cosy. The downsides were hard to miss: the rooms are tiny, and the bathroom looks like one in an IBIS hotel. The so-called gym was a freezing room with an old bike and rowing machine, but no treadmill or weights. Breakfast choices were poor, with tiny bowls and only small spoons, and no oats, granola, or muesli. The staff could be friendlier. They also came into the room and cleaned it despite the do-not-disturb sign.
