Hôtel Val-Vignes

The building itself is incredible, and the drive in and the town felt magical. The staff were friendly and made room for us and our toddler. We celebrated family birthdays over a nice meal, played billiards in the cave, and unwound in the sauna. I only wish the weather had held up for biking. Instead, we hiked through the vineyards, with a view of the castle, and that will stay with me. Such a lovely stay!

Almost perfect. The breakfast area was closed, so we had to eat breakfast in our room. A little disappointing, but only a little.

We’ve stayed at this beautiful hotel twice now, using it as a pleasant overnight stop on our drive to Spain. The restaurant is very good. Unfortunately, one woman at reception was arrogant and unfriendly, and spoiled the last 15 minutes of our stay. She was having trouble charging us correctly, and we had to wait before we could leave and continue our trip. A quick “I’m sorry” or “my apologies” would have made a big difference.

The hotel and its setting are beautiful, and every member of staff we met was superb. We had great service with drinks before and after dinner, bike rental, and wine storage. My wife and a couple we know from Denmark came with me for a two-night weekend in this lovely region. Our Premium room was the letdown. It didn’t look like the pictures at all, and faced the parking lot. It was just okay, which didn’t fit the otherwise wonderful stay. Room cleaning also fell short: towels we left on the floor were taken away but not replaced. I’d happily recommend the hotel, but next time we’ll make sure we get a room that matches the category we booked.
