La Barboire Campagne - Chambres

We wanted a calm, relaxing honeymoon after our wedding, so we booked two nights. The team was professional and made sure guests had a good experience, and we felt at home in the peaceful natural surroundings. Self check-in after 8 pm is practical. The kitchen and dining room setup is unique, and you can keep food in the fridge. The rooms stay clean if you prefer not to bring takeaways into them. We couldn’t order the chef’s food because the menu didn’t suit what we eat, though it’s a practical option for anyone who’d rather not go out to eat. Chambord castle is about 15 minutes away, but the garden, pool, sauna, and hammam make it easy to disconnect and enjoy staying in. I’d definitely recommend it!

We had the whole gorgeous property to ourselves during our stay. The breakfast was delicious, and the pool, cold pool, hammam, and sauna made a lovely way to end the day. Finding the entrance is tricky: you have to drive down a path that feels like off-roading.

The manager was incredibly helpful and nice, and the gardens and countryside setting were beautiful. The accommodation was just right, with lovely interior design. We borrowed bikes and cycled along the river to restaurants to the south, then had a bottle of sparkling Loire wine on the riverbank. We also picked up food at the local supermarket and used the massive kitchen. La Barboire Campagne was a peaceful, wonderful last escape before I left france for a new job. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

The host made us feel very welcome, and the bar menu and wines were great. The garden is beautifully maintained, the rooms are nicely finished, and the whole place is so quiet and soothing. One of the best countryside stays I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
