The room may have been large, but it was filthy. There was mold on the shower and curtain, grime and slime in the toilet, and mold coming from the vents. The WC is so cramped that anyone medium-sized or larger can’t shut the door, their legs stick out past it. It was also unbearably hot when we arrived in Lyons. The air conditioning was advertised, but it wouldn’t cool the room below 25°C, and our thermostat was set to 30°C. We weren’t told about that until it was too late to find somewhere else. From arrival, the staff acted like they didn’t want to be there. We tried the hotel restaurant, which was mediocre, and the waiter was rude. When I asked in French if he could bring the wine bottle so I could photograph the label, he abruptly refused and spoke too quickly for me to understand. He offered a small salad but brought a large one, and the main dish sauce tasted like bottled salad dressing. We canceled our second night and left. This isn’t worth the price, and it’s nowhere near four-star quality. If you can, stay elsewhere.

The staff were very polite and ready to help, and our room was clean with enough space for the four of us, including the children. It’s a handy place for a family to stop on a trip, close to the highway exit. A good spot to take a break and continue the journey the next day.

I came back after 11 years and was disappointed to find that the hotel hadn’t been updated. There were black seals around the bathroom and the toilets were dirty. They even moved me to another room because of a dirty toilet. Breakfast was poor, too. When I mentioned there were too many bugs in the rooms, they said they couldn’t prevent them and put off dealing with it. I’m sorry, but the place needs some changes.

Sorry, but this doesn’t feel like a real four-star hotel. Even three-star places look better. The service was acceptable, but the quality disappointed me and the price is too high for what you get. The Wi-Fi is no good if you’re impatient: click today and the whole page might load tomorrow. Sometimes you just get a message saying it’s taking too long and to check your connection.

Getting emails through was difficult because the internet was so slow. The bar service was just as frustrating. We waited half an hour for a drink, then the barman served some French customers without looking at us or asking who was next. The evening service felt slow and arrogant, so we left. Sad place.
