The market winds through indoor and outdoor areas, and you could easily spend hours there. We came across so many interesting stalls, especially those run by restoration and art experts who really knew their stuff. I had a lovely time wandering around and chatting with people. Take a break for a classic, excellent lunch at Chez Tata Biron.

There’s an enormous amount to look through, so don’t expect to see every stall. You’ll find genuine original art and vintage treasures alongside expensive antiques, possible designer labels, everyday cheap new goods, and plenty of junk. It gets very crowded, so watch out for pickpockets just as you would at any busy market.

The indoor market has a cool atmosphere and lots of different stalls, from delicate antiques to clothes and music. It feels more like an antique market to me, especially if you’re visiting from the States. There are unique finds, but not bargain prices. It was pretty quiet when I went, with maybe half the stalls closed, and it gets really cold in winter. I’d pick summer if I had the choice. Walk past the knock-off tents outside to reach the actual market indoors.

You could spend 4-5 hours checking out all the vendors and hunting for the right hidden gem. They have things for all sorts of interests, including ashtrays, lighting, glassware, delivery bikes, audio gear, filmmaking equipment, guitars, statues, pins, and repurposed sewing machines. There are also vinyl records, clothes, jewelry, and furniture. It’s Paris’ largest flea market, apparently also called Marche Vernaison.

It’s huge and expensive, but I think it’s overhyped. Great if you collect pricey, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, but it wasn’t what we expected.
