The view over st-Paul-de-Vence was beautiful, and we were warmly welcomed when we arrived. But there was a problem with the canalisation, and our room smelled horrible. When we told the manager, we couldn’t even get an apology. We found the stay a bit disappointing and overpriced.

We had delicious drinks by the pool after we arrived, and the views of Saint Paul de Vence from there and from our room were incredible. Hotel La Grande Bastide was a lovely little oasis in a busy part of the coast. The hotel, rooms and pool were comfortable and nicely decorated. Parking is available on site, though the drive up is very steep. I’d recommend staying here.

It was so quiet that much of the time it felt like we had a private house, and we spent plenty of time relaxing by the pool. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and were treated perfectly. They even upgraded us to their best suit. Our room had a very comfortable bed, authentic provincial decor and stunning views of St Paul's de Vence. There’s also a free 'taxi' to St Paul's in a retro 2 CV car, which made us feel like we were in a film. The staff were friendly, approachable and helpful, and the facilities were great. If you want somewhere luxurious that isn’t busy, loud or commercial, this is the place. We’ll definitely return for a special ocassion!
