Breakfast was the real treat here, with plenty of choice: local teas, spreads, cheeses, yogurts, baked goods, and eggs you boil yourself. At 11 euros, it felt well worth it, though the machine coffee was only mediocre. We had a small, cozy room that was warm and had everything we needed, even a bathtub. We couldn’t find a time that worked for the spa, which cost 50 euro for two people for an hour, and skipped the fitness room at 5 euros per person. The hotel sits in the countryside hills in a large Basque house. Check-in was a bit awkward because nobody was at reception and nobody answered the phone. Not all the staff spoke English, but we got by using Basque, French, and Spanish. Still, it’s a lovely place and I’d recommend it.

We’d love to return after our lovely four days at this friendly, authentic hotel. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a view of three cute sheep, and we never heard any noise from the neighbors. We also had a delicious dinner each evening at the restaurant across the street.
