Hotel Trinquet

The room cleaning was a real problem. When we arrived, the floor was sticky and sandy, probably left by the previous guests, or even the ones before them. We missed the short cleaning window the next day and came back after being out for several hours to find the room untouched. Reception said I’d missed the moment because I’d put the do-not-disturb sign on the door that morning. That was true, but only for 2.5 minutes just before we headed out again. They sent a cleaner anyway, but she was in and out with her bucket in under seven minutes. The floor was still just as sticky and sandy, and wet towels were left in a pile on the end of the bed. There are good things here: it’s quiet, the location is interesting, there’s a trinquet court on site, and the restaurant has a lovely garden. The restaurant itself is very nice, though the female waitress was somewhat brusque with us. She was extravagantly buoyant and friendly with her countrymen and -women, but seemed equally uninterested in non-French guests, even though some of us tried speaking French. Breakfast was a chaotic bunfight. The line for the automatic coffee machine was so bad we gave up on eating there. Come on, hotel, get a real machine and serve real coffee. We could see goats, or maybe sheep, in the field outside, at least. Better to drive into Saint-Pée and eat at JF Maïtia for noisette from a real machine, excellent pastries, and lovely, friendly service.

The breakfast was generous and delicious, with fresh, high-quality products, and the peaceful location was close to the main attractions. The rooms were spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and very comfortable. Staff were always smiling, attentive, and ready to help. The Trinquet Hotel has charm and made us feel welcome from the start. You can tell they put care into the details. I had a perfect stay and will definitely return. Five stars!

We especially enjoyed breakfast, with its excellent local products and good range of options. Having it outside on the terrace with a mountain view was a real pleasure. Our room was clean, comfortable, and very well equipped, and the staff were friendly and professional. We were very happy with our stay at the Trinquet Hotel, and I highly recommend it.

Breakfast was the big disappointment. The choice, service, hygiene, and convenience all need work. It’s a shame, because we would have eaten there every morning otherwise. The hotel is on a very busy main road, but that didn’t bother us since our room faced the garden. The room with a kitchenette was in excellent shape, practically brand new.
